Is this how the world is really operating!? -Empirical – we observe what is going on. Similar studies have been done. . You can take what you like from a few sudies and do yours! Probabilistic- look at the probability. . something is gunna occur! Statistics research Causal- is something going to cause something?! It show if one thing cause another. Different types of studies: -Descriptive studies- document what is going on. Ex: public opion in a republic or democratic election -Relational Study- looking at not only the % of demo and republican. . but we look gender! What % of males and females! Relationship between variables! -Causal Study – does add campaing cause change in voting behavior!? (they build up in one another) Issue of time -Cross sectional – data of one time! One point of information -Longitudinal- take place over time. -Repeated measurement desing – 2 to 3 times.
