Nika Vickers HIS-200-R31014-4 Project 1: Writing Plan SubmissionSouthern New Hampshire University 1/27/2020Topic: Lincoln assassinationDuring the time period when Lincoln was assassinated African Americans viewed him as a hero, because he basically saved the day for African Americans. He supported things like the colonization which would allow the slaves to be free, and he later wrote the Emancipation Proclamation which declared that all slaves being held shall be freed within the rebellious states. It didn’t technically end slavery, but it was a step forward for African Americans. During the time of Abraham Lincoln, he believed that the blacks had the rights to life, liberty, and happiness.I would say this event is significant is because while Lincoln was in office the blacks really began to have life, and it allowed them to have freedom. So, I feel as if it wasn’t for Lincoln thenAfrican Americans wouldn’t have had these political rights during his time. Secondary Sources:Hayes, R. (2010, February 14).
