Darkly pigmented ii. Highly vascular-provides nutrition for retina b. Anterior-darkly pigmented and vascular i. Ciliary Muscle (part of ciliary muscle)-smooth & involuntary attaches post. choroids to ant. sclera which pulls choroid forward ii. Ciliary Processes (part of ciliary muscle)-has extensions that connect to very fine fibers (aka zonular fibers) connect to lens of the eye; SUM TOTAL of fibers=suspensory ligament of the eye iii. Iris (color; part of ciliary muscle)-in center has an opening that is pupil; function-regulate amount of light that enters the eye; muscles are smooth and involuntary; sphincter pupillae-right around edge of pupil (when they contract, the eye contracts); dilator pupillae-from edge of pupil to outer edge of iris (contraction makes it bigger) 2. Retina (inner layer & is photosensitive)-has 6 layers a. Photoreceptor Neurons-right next to retina i. Rods-100 million
