1 AVOVA CWV-101 February 2, 2020 Professor Sharpe Origins Reflection Summary of Genesis 1 & 2 The book of Genesis was written by the prophet Moses. Chapters one and two are about the creation of the world. The first chapter tells us that on the first day, God created light and saw that it was good. In the next five days, God created air and water, land and plants, the sun and moon (heavenly bodies), birds and fish, animals and man. On the seventh day, God rested. In chapter two, God gave to man, Adam, dominion over the plants and animals in the garden of Eden. The Bible describes the location of the garden a being in the east where a river flowed through it. That river would split into four headwaters called Pishon, which flowed through Havilah, Gihon, which flowed through Cush Tigris, which flowed through the east side of Ashur and Euphrates. God placed Adam in Eden and told him not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If Adam ate of the fruit of the tree, the consequence was death. God then decided that it was not good for Adam to be by himself and therefore, God put Adam into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs and made Eve. Adam called her woman because she was made from his bones and his flesh. Genesis chapter two states that is why a man leaves his mother and father to find a wife and become one flesh. The chapter ends by stating both Adam and Eve were naked, but they were not ashamed. Alyssa Martin When it comes to how the world began, where the people, animals, nature, and everything else in the world it all leads back to God. as stated in Genesis, God took one whole

2 week to create the Earth and everything in it varying from the sun and moon to the little bugs in the ground. I have always believed there was some higher power that was able to make everything come to life, and we all didn’t come about because of aliens or a mix of chemicals. The reason why I believe this is because the way things are described in Genesis connects with my mindset and the way I grew up and was brought into the belief of Christianity. Christianity has had an influence when it comes to the way everything was created because I have always been told there was a higher person that made the Earth and everything in it because he wanted us to experience the good and bad things in the world, along with so many more things as well. When it comes to the origin of the Earth and all the aspects included, I believe God wanted to have people in the world to help take care of his creations and make sure things stay in order. In addition, I believe God wanted to have us here because we should be able to enjoy life, love ourselves and others, and not be afraid to admit to all the things we do whether it’s good or bad. There are responsibilities and “guidelines” we should live by and I have always believed God wants to see what we will do in the end. These are the different decisions we must make in life and at times these decisions are not always easy to make and that’s a part of life, but it’s our responsibility to own the decision we end up making. Making sure to live life to the fullest,
