3CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT PORTFOLIOImportance of Classroom EnvironmentThe classroom environment is the given space that teachers and students interact with eachother. This space should be a welcoming, educational, and a safe place for everyone. Havingan effective classroom environment is crucial to student’s success. There are two main parts of having a good classroom environment. The physical environment which includes seating and classroom layout. And there is the Emotional environment, which focuses on how students and teachers interact with eachother and how they feel. By having these needs met positively the students will flourish in academics and in personal life.The physical environment of a classroom has a lot to do with the structure of the class. It is how the seats are arranged, what posters are up, where the different learning centers are located, and more. The emotional environment of the classroom should be welcoming to all students. It should be a safe space for all, where everyone can share their thoughts and not be judged. Every students culture should be celebrated, and it should be a positive and respectful environment.Having a positive learning environment creates a setting where students achieve academic goals more effortlessly and it sets them up to be a better person. By creating an effective atmosphere, students learn through experiences. This way they become better problem solvers, decision makers, leaders, and a good citizen. It also helps the teacher have good classroom management.
4CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT PORTFOLIOA good classroom environment has detailed rules and procedures that everyone follows. These rules and procedures are set at the beginning of the school year and they are agreed upon by the students and the teacher. The rules are also created to benefit the students. It should be an encouraging climate. Students should feel that they are expected to learn and want to do so. Theyshould be encouraged by both their peers and the teacher. Students should feel comfortable beingthemselves. Most Likely the students will come from all over the country and maybe even the world. This means they bring different assets to the class, they should not feel embarrassed, but their differences should be celebrated. Every student must have their own voice heard.
