The differences in emergent and beginning learning environments based on your observations from the media and the case studiesHow the learning environments impact instructionA research-based activity or research-based instructional practice that could be used to create a more positive literacy profile for beginning readers and writersThe first step in developing a reader is developing phonemic awareness (Reutzel & Cooter, 2016). These emergent readers are developing their phonemic awareness by hearing, identifying, and manipulating individual sounds in spoken words. From there, they move into creating relationships with letters and sounds, which moves the student to begin to create decoding strategies with words (Reutzel& Cooter, 2016). An emergent reader is going to take cues from more developed readers and begin to form their own decoding strategies. In reading the piece Emergent Reader and Writer Mini Case Study, the teacher is doing some of the work by prompting the students (Laureate Education, 2014a).
