Young Goodman Brown Reading Response
In the story of Nathaniel Hawthorne, we can easily identify has employed symbolism as a
satire for Religion. Moreover, one of the main symbolisms in the story is Brown’s wife named
Faith as his strength. For instance, Brown says assuredly, “And what calm sleep would be his,
that very night, which was to have been spent so wickedly, but purely and sweetly now, in the
arms of Faith!” (Hawthorne, 5). In fact, this demonstrates Brown’s strengths comes from his wife
