TO:  Aron Cramer RE:   Meeting Prep for BSR’s leaders As a significant player in the electronics industry, Nokia has taken an interest in its stakeholders by  making notable strives in Corporate Social Responsibility. Technology companies though are still  meeting criticism from NGOs and the media for neglecting problematic CSR issues.  This memo outlines  the success of Nokia in CSR, as well as the opportunities available to address growing threats. Nokia has made its most notable strives in engaging its stakeholders.  Among the different programs it provides to its employees,  Nokia offers employees the   opportunity to publish their comments on a news hub .  This feature allows employees to  comment anonymously.  o It has increased Nokia’s internal engagement capabilities by generating meaningful  conversations on a wide-range of business concerns.  The Company      has formed partnerships with NGOs, among them WWF, the global       conservation organization .  According to Nokia this partnership is “an opportunity to learn from  each other in finding new ways to develop environmental awareness among Nokia employees,  enhance Nokia’s environmental performance, and support WWF’s nature conservation goals.” Stakeholder engagement is important because the people associated with the company are  the ones who know and care about it best.  For example, by engaging employees Nokia gains  the opportunity to improve employee retention and satisfaction which ultimately betters the  Company.
