December 4, 2006 Freshman Forum At the beginning of the project, euthanasia didn’t really mean much to me. I knew what it was and understood why it existed but I didn’t really have an opinion about it. People shouldn’t have to live in pain, I know I wouldn’t want to, but euthanasia is one of those things that can get out of control. You can relate legalizing euthanasia to abortion. Abortion was meant for women to be able to deliberately terminate the pregnancy. I doubt that when abortion was made legal, they thought that there were going to be clinics full of irresponsible teenage girls. Abortion like euthanasia was probably started by an extreme case. Euthanasia should only be used in extreme cases. People who are depressed and in pain shouldn’t just be able to request to be euthanized. Euthanasia is such a debatable topic because it’s a matter of life and death. But if your life is so bad that you want to end it early you should be able to. From doing research, I came up with a list of the people that should be able to be euthanized. They
