Alison Claire Burnette le 20 avril Reaction Paper: «Les Choristes» The last installment of the French Film Series for the Spring 2009 featured the French drama «Les Choristes». As someone who plans to be a teacher one day, this movie touched me in a special way. Clément Mathieu arrives at a correctional school, Fond de L’Etang, full of optimism despite the attitude of his predecessor and new colleagues. The school’s headmaster, M. Rachin, subscribes to the theory of «Action- Reaction»; however, his harsh punishments prove to be ineffective. When M. Mathieu decides to run a choir at the school, the need for discipline consequently declines. Though M. Rachin might have thought this to be some sort of chance, M. Mathieu seemed to understand all along that all the kids needed in their life was some sort of positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior. Its funny that I noticed that in the movie because that is exactly what my test is on in my Special Education for all Teachers (SPE 300)
