Alison Claire Burnette Sociology 101 Chapter 12 – Critical Thinking Go to the United States Department of the Interior’s Office of Civil Rights homepage at http://www.doi.gov/diversity , click on one of the articles under “What’s New in Civil Rights?” and write a one-page summary on what you discover. When I went to that website, I decided to click the link to a Policy on Equal Opportunity. The Secretary of the Interior wrote this policy on February 28th, 2007. He wanted to emphasize his commitment to maintaining “a policy that requires individuals be given equal opportunities in employment or program delivery, free from discrimination” ( http:// www.doi.gov/diversity/new_policy_on_equal_opportunity.pdf ). He also emphasized that all employees of the Department of the Interior must carry out the Department’s equal opportunity policy. Employees are to endorse this policy through their exemplary conduct.
