October 13, 2008 Econ 191 DA Perm# Problem Set #2 1. Packaged lettuce is lettuce is lettuce that comes in a sealed type of packaging and is not exposed to any type of air before the customer opens the lettuce after being purchased. Since the question how much is packaged lettuce is such a generalized question, it is hard to say the exact price of packaged lettuce at any given time. However, it is safe to say that the price of packaged lettuce is generally greater than the price of a head of lettuce that is not already precut and ready for serving. Regular lettuce such as a standard head of lettuce is cheap and is bought at a much lower cost with a head of lettuce running about $1.50 or so per head. Organic lettuce which may be packaged or not packaged will be more expensive since it was made without pesticides and caters to the more health oriented population. Packaged lettuce will cost a lot more, for the same amount of lettuce as the regular; it may cost more than $5.00.
