May 18, 2009 ESS 131 Behind the Wire Questions 1. The reasons the Americans had fatalities as opposed to the other nations is due to various factors. The first such factor is that chemistry and culture killed the Americans. The values and attitudes had by the Americans killed them because they were not a strong cohesive group. They acted like they did not know one another while the Turks on the other hand formed a close bond and were able to overcome the situation. The Americans should have been united against the enemy in order to overcome any such obstacles. 2. A formula for survival would include having a strong leader that would maintain the group’s motivation and tell them to stick together. The group needs to keep up sanity and be able to pull through adversity by relying on each other individually. Also, I would assign people to each do different tasks based on what each individual’s strong points are. This would create an efficient tactical way to give you the best possible chance for
