Ideal Gas Model Lecture 9/8 What if the attractive forces are very weak? They would behave similar, the particles are always in motion and the inter- particle forces are what drive the particles to interact together. With the volume and amount of the gas held constant, if the temperature is increased, what should happen to the pressure of the gas? As the temp increases the pressure increases as well. As the velocity is increased the particles are hitting the wall with more force and thus increasing the pressure With a decrease in volume, the pressure will increase for the particles are hitting the wall even more frequently and collide with other particles more often. With more particles, what will happen to the pressure? The pressure increases because there are more chances for the particles to interact with each other or the walls surrounding them. Pressure / volume. . Exponential slope compared to a linear fashion The pressure is proportional to the temperature. P=kT where P is pressure, k is constant
