The Hubble space telescope was deployed in 1990 by the crew of the shuttle Discovery of NASA. It has been responsible for some of the most spectacular photographs of the universe. It is still in operation, taking pictures. New discoveries are still being made, such as the recent discovery that open star clusters have very short life spans according to hubblesite.com (2007).
