I chose two Campaign ads from the recent presidential campaign between Senator John McCain and president Barrack Obama. During the campaign both candidates had run a series of positive ads and some negative ads against each other during the heated presidential campaign that ended up with Senator Obama winning the election as the 44 th president of the united states. The first ad was by Senator John McCain, against the popularity of president Obama. Accusing him for being more of a celebrity than a presidential candidate. here is the link from youtube.com. McCain Ad Mocks Obama's Fame . Senator John McCain is a veteran Politician that has been around for decades. He has a good military record of serving in Vietnam and was held as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. On top of all that he is been in congress for quite a long time, even ran for the presidency previously. In 2000 he ran under the republican primary against the then Texas Governor George Bush. Winning the republican ticket to run for the presidency against President Obama, McCain was almost certain of defeating his democratic opponent. Because of his opponent’s political inexperience, background , and lack of “ inside Washington connection”. But to McCain’s surprise and the world’s Obama turned out to be a very savvy presidential candidate that surrounded himself with all the necessary required tools enabling him to campaign effectively. So Senator McCain and his campaign team realized that time is running out for them , and most of the American people are likely to vote for Obama rather than his republican opponent. So they desperately started launching a series of negative ads against Obama. The particular ad I chose to write about was aired on various TV Stations around the Country. In it we saw Obama’s trip to Germany in July 2008 where he spoke to a very huge audience that listen to his speech intently with so much enthusiasm. The ad showed Obama’s fans screaming excitedly the moment he appeared to them and showing a brief pictures of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. The ad says Obama was the biggest celebrity ever but was he ready to lead? When the Mc Cain campaign were asked about the pictures of Britney and Paris in the ad, they said it was there to suggest that Obama was more interested in becoming an international celebrity rather than running for the presidency.
