The Biot-Savart Law d v B = μ 0 4 π i ds sin θ r 2 μ 0 = 4 π × 10 - 7 T · m/A Chapter 29: Magnetic Fields due to Currents – p.
How to Use Biot-Savart Biot-Savart doesn’t tell us the direction of v B , so we have to figure that out before-hand using the right-hand rule. We can use Biot-Savart for any kind of current distribution. We need to identify current elements v idS that produce d v B fields. We need to figure out the distance v r between the source ( v idS ) and the point at which we calculate the field ( d v B ). We need to figure out the angle θ between the current vector v idS and the v r vector. Chapter 29: Magnetic Fields due to Currents – p.
