Polina Pomerants Partners: Hue, Jane Physics 2022 Enpeng Du Lab #28 07/08/09 Purpose: The objective of this lab is to visualize some electrostatic potentials and electric fields of various charge configuarations. Specifically, the goal is to observe a relationship between electric currents and magnetic fields; that is, to show that the electric current produces the magnetic field. Magnetic fields are produced by charges moving relative to a frame of reference and thus describe forces between moving charges. We will use the conducting paper to map equipotentials and electric fields. Theory: The relationship between electric and magnetic fields, shown as E and B, can demonstrated by this equation: F= q (E+v *B) This is Lorentz force law. Procedure: Part 1 1. Mount the conductive paper. 2. Connect the electrodes to a DC power. 3. Connect the wire terminals with electrodes and other wire terminals with the power supply. 4.
