Chapter 6: Electrophoresis and DNA Activity 1 5’-CTAAGTATCGCGAT-3’ Activity 2 5 fragments Activity 3 The kit contains set of 6 solutions in Water ~60%, Sucrose 40%, Sodium benzoate 0.2% as preservative. The solutions are A: Bromophenol blue: 0.07%, B: Xylene cyanol: 0.03%, C: Orange G: 0.35%, D: Crystal violet: 0.03%, E: Malachite Green HCl: 0.1%, F: Dye Mixture. The Mixture is supposed to contain all the dyes A, B, C, D and E. The movements observed are (dyes named in acronyms) XC: towards positive pole (anode). CV: towards negative pole (cathode). OG: towards positive pole (anode). MG: towards negative pole (cathode). BB: towards positive pole (anode). Activity 4 1. Measure from well to each band in lane 1: Lane 1 Fragment # 1 2 3 4 5
