My name isDestiny AguguaI’m 18 years old, and I’m a Pharmacy major at HoustonCommunity College. I’m currently considering pursuing a career as a Pharmacist. I am a veryaltruistic, level headed thinker, and I am very determined. I love being able to help others andinfluence the world of medicine. I also really would love to be able to work hard enough to beable to support myself and my family while doing what I love. The annual pay for Pharmacists in May 2019 was around$111,000 and $145,000, withthe average being around $120,000 and the hourly pay around $60 per hour. The salary isinfluenced by where they decide to work, which means that they can work anywhere fromhospitals, to pharmacies, to clinics, to even general merchandise stores. The typical education isa doctorate in pharmacy, and the lowest degree allowed is a bachelor, which can take around 8years to complete. However, if they start earlier by entering a program after their undergraduatedegree they can start practicing earlier. The employment outlook is unfortunately incredibly low, with an outlook of 0% from the year 2019 to 2029 (which is lower than the national job outlook),however, to work in the hospital it’s around 13% as they tend to hire more than any otherfacility. (Occupational Outlook Handbook 2019).
