Amber Springer September 12, 2006 Chemistry Orientation When I first went to college I planned to be a plastic surgeon and major in biology. As I took my first biology class, I began to realize that I had absolutely no interest in actually doing that. My grades were mediocre and I know that plastic surgery is an extremely competitive field. I decided to be more realistic about my goals and went to the library and read a career outlook book. I thought about what classes so far do I enjoy enough to want to do for the rest of my life. I enjoyed my chemistry classes and I realized that I really liked them because I hated my teacher. I had to love a subject to still want to take it with a terrible teacher. I began to research pharmacy and decided that this would be my career goal. I know that there are careers in pharmacy that do not include just working in a pharmacy. I hope to learn much more about pharmacy this upcoming semester. Since everyone seems to be finding out how lucrative pharmacy is, it is a very competitive field. It appears that everyone has hopes of majoring in pharmacy. Therefore, I must strive to make the best grades I can this upcoming semester to make up for the mediocre grades I made my first two years. This goal is very important to me, but not because of my love for pharmacy, but because I would like to secure my future. I hope to also be able to do many other things besides pharmacy. I love to help others and I would like to become active in community service projects. Pharmacy is not my passion, but hopefully when I learn more about, it will become one of them....
