ENG 110: College Writing                Patch Fall 2007 Group Project 1: Rhetorical Analysis and Wikipedia   (15% of course grade) Project due Wed., Nov. 7 Evaluation due Mon., Nov. 12 (see end of assignment) Assignment  Assess the reliability—the credibility and usefulness—of information included in a Wikipedia article. A. As a group, select a Wikipedia article related to a subject we’ve discussed this semester: child soldiers,  US Marines, post-war life, Native American issues, writing, Wikipedia, etc. Determine your selection by  carefully considering what information you would like to find out about one of these subjects.  Assignment requirement : Each group member must suggest at least one Wikipedia article—and  defend that selection in writing—on your group’s Discussion Board by Monday, Oct. 22. B. Conduct your analysis of the article to determine (a) if it is reliable and (b) how reliable/unreliable it is.  1. Read all of the information on the main (“article”) page. a. What information about the topic is included? Is any information missing or unecessary? b. What information is particularly interesting and why? Did you learn something new? Did you  learn something that reinforces your prior knowledge? c. How is the information organized? Is this an effective way of organizing the information?  Why not? d.
