If I think about this question at all, my response is usually something along the lines of “Walmart” or “the farmer’s stand across the street.” Very rarely when I am eating do I ponder where the food and/or all of its ingredients actually came from. I choose to look into one of my usual breakfast meals: a banana, strawberry cereal bar, and water. I don’t like to eat much in the morning, so this is usually perfect, and I thought it would be interesting to see where my banana, strawberries in my cereal bars, and my water actually came

The cereal bars are made of strawberry puree mixed with corn syrup, sugar, and a few other ingredients; whole grain rolled oats and whole grain wheat flour; vegetable oils; and some assorted added vitamins. My bananas no longer had the label that may have indicated their country of origin, but I found out that the United States gets most of its bananas from Latin America; we get 9,004.73 million pounds of bananas from Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Columbia ....
