Geopolitics 16:09 There has been an allusion of what/how is studied State An independent country Afforded sovereignty by int. laws, agreement, and precedents Internationally recognized boundaries Supply public goods, regulate eco relations, seek legitimacy in the eyes of  citizens and others, and direct relations w/ other states Power of state resides in state authorities o To confer all their power and strength upon one man or assembly of men  that reduces many wills to one will Nation A group of people with a claim to a shared past, common culture and  collective destiny o Some nations are virtually coextensive with states, forming nation-states  (Japan, Sweden, Mongolia) o Some are struggling for autonomy/sovereignty and may lie entirely within a  state Nationalism o The passionate defense of national interests, weather in a nation-state  framework(patriotism) or outside of suck framework(treason and terrorism) Enclave A “hole” in a political territory created by a sovereign or semi-sovereign entity  or by a fragment of a foreign country A district, province, region, town, etc. in a state that align itself politically with a  foreign state, usually an adjacent one Exclave A bit of a state that is separated from the rest of the state, such as blah! Enclave + Exclave = Trouble
