Assetto Spring 2008 Clark B-349 491-5369 E-mail: OFFICE HOURS: W 11:00a -12:00p R 1:00 – 3:00p AND BY APPOINTMENT COURSE OBJECTIVES: The goal of this course is to develop a basic factual and theoretical knowledge of the political systems of countries located in Western Europe. By the end of the semester, students should be able to draw conclusions about the trajectory of political developments in this region. Students are EXPECTED and REQUIRED to be thoroughly conversant with the facts and theoretical approaches contained in the reading material. This course thus requires a strong commitment in terms of the student's time and effort. As in any liberal arts class, a major objective of this class also is to assist students in improving their communications, analytical, and research skills. GRADES : Grades will be determined as follows: 2 Writing Assignments 60% Class Participation/Quizzes 25% Group Project 15% GRADING SCALE: A+ 97-100 C+ 77-79 F 59 and below A 94-96 C 73-76 A- 90-92 C- 70-72 B+ 87-89 D+ 67-69 B 83-86 D 63-66 B- 80-82 D- 60-62 LATE ASSIGNMENTS: Failure to turn in an assignment will result in a grade of ZERO (0) for that assignment unless PRIOR arrangements are made with me. Assignments are due IN CLASS ; any assignment turned in after class will be considered a day late ACADEMIC DISHONESTY: I will not tolerate ANY form of academic dishonesty. Cheating on an assignment will result in an "F" for that assignment, and I will report the offender to the university's Judicial Affairs officer if
