Required Textbook(s): Organic Chemistry , Wade, Prentice Hall Publishing, 4th edition, 1999. Supplemental Materials: Additional material may be assigned by an instructor to supplement the required textbooks. Special Requirements: None Major Learning Outcomes: Students will learn the naming, preparations, physical properties, and reactions of aromatic compounds and families of oxygen and nitrogen containing organic compounds. Students will be able to plan sequences of reactions which convert given compounds to desired products. Chemical and spectrometric methods of molecular structure identification will be used by students. Students will know the structure and properties of some important classes of biological compounds.
