Aaja Troxler LGBTQIA Studies 02/03/19 Alan Turing and Anne Lister were homosexuals. Alan Turing was born and died June 23 rd 1912 and June 7, 1954. Anne Lister was born April 3,1791 and died September 22, 1840. It is very accurate to claim that these individuals were homosexual. They said it themselves and there was many documentation that corroborated this fact. Turing was an English mathematician, computer scientist, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher and theoretical biologist. He also create numerous techniques that sped up the decoding of German ciphers in WWII. William Churchill stated that he shortened the war by 2 years. Even though Turing had been very successful in his career, he was prosecuted for a homosexual relationship in 1952. He was to choose between prison time or probation. He chose probation but under this he had to undergo hormone replacement to reduce his libido. Two and a half years later it is thought that he committed suicide through cyanide poisoning.
