Cox-1 Jeff Cox Professor Finnegan English 112 23 April 2009 A World of Over Simulation: Willie Mink in DeLillo’s White Noise Willie Mink is a character in Don DeLillo’s White Noise who is referred to throughout the story but only really makes brief but significant appearances in the end. Mink enters the story close to the end where he has already become a pathetic, crazy person. Mink who is also known as Mr. Gray was one of the project managers who helped develop dylar. Mink was fired when he put an ad in a newspaper for volunteers to help test dylar. It was found that a woman was being given dylar by Mink, who was fired and the group switched to a different kind of testing that involved computers. Mink continued to live at a motel in the Germantown section of Iron City after being relieved from his work. Mink carries on an affair with Babette, who believes dylar can alleviate her overwhelming fear of death. Willie is both the center of Jack's jealous rage and Jack's only hope of getting Dylar himself. Mink becomes Jack’s nemesis and Jack confronts and
