10/6/2008 In-Class Writing #2 Do you agree with Plato or Aristotle or both regarding reality or perfection? It is almost fitting that one of Plato's greatest students was also one of his greatest critics. Like Democritus, Aristotle had confidence in sense perception. As a result, he had little patience with Plato's higher world of the Forms. Aristotle argued that there were universal principles but that they come from experience. He could not accept that there was a world of Forms beyond space and time. Aristotle argued that that there were Forms and Absolutes, but that they resided in the thing itself. As much as I would like to choose a side, I have to say that I agree with both Plato and Aristotle’s ideas on reality and perfection. They both make valid points that I believe are important to observe in order to lead a fulfilling life. Plato’s thoughts on not always trusting your senses in important to take into consideration because as humans we are susceptible to perceive things in a way that we
