General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: To inform my class about the case regarding a German Shepherd sentenced to death. Thesis: The issue involving Congo, a 2 ½ year old German Shepherd involves the attack that prompted the action, the court case against him, and the law that is being introduced to protect dogs like Congo in the future. Introduction I was going to ask how many of you have a dog. But instead, I would like to know how many of you have a family member on death row? This is the case for the James family in Trenton, New Jersey. I am going to tell you about how their 2 ½ year old German Shepherd named Congo attacked the landscaper, the court case that followed, and a law being introduced to help protect dogs like Congo in the future. Body I. The attack on June 5 th A. Five Landscapers show up to the James’ home an hour earlier than expected.
