Solve 6.15 (6.15) from textbook 5. Solve 6.17 (6.17) from textbook 6. Solve 6.22 (6.22) from textbook 7. Consider a simple telephone switching center where calls arrive according to a Poisson process of rate λ . The center has two switches: A and B. Each arriving call is routed to switch A with probability p and to switch B with probability 1 - p . Switch A has capacity C A (can handle C A calls simultaneously) and switch B has capacity C B . When a routed call Fnds the switch full, it is simply blocked and rejected. Call durations are exponentially distributed with rate μ . (i) Compute the blocking probability of switch A. (ii) Compute the blocking probability of the center. (iii) Suppose there is only one switch in the center with capacity C A + C B . Compute the blocking probability of the center. (iv) Compare (ii) with (iii). Which has a smaller blocking probability?
