Do not fall behind or you will find it very difficult to do well! It is up to you to work problems. The more problems you do, the better your final grade will be. There is no alternative in a chemistry course to working problems. All of the problems in Vollhardt and Schore (5th edition, 2007) should be worked, except those listed in the table below. The less time you spend reading and the more time you spend doing problems, the better you will do in the course. A set of molecular models, which can be shared, is recommended. The cheapest ball-and-stick models are preferable to the more expensive space-filling ones. Exercises and Problems from Vollhardt and Schore 5th Edition that are NOT recommended: Chapter 10: 2, 10, 17, 21, 22-26, 38, 41, 47-49, 54 Chapter 11: 1-3, 9, 10, 14, 27, 33, 34, 38-40, 62 Chapter 12: 8, 14, 33b, 36e, 39p, 40p, 41p, 42b, 43b 57a, 59, 60, 63 Chapter 13: 1, 22, 29c, 41, 42 Chapter 14: 7a,b, 49, 58-62, 65, 70 Chapter 15: 1, 3-10, 23, 24, 28, 31, 33-38, 40-43, 47- 49, 55, 58, 61, 62 Chapter 16: 1, 2, 11-18, 19-25, 26, 29, 31, 38, 39,
