Chad Worrell Maurice Marshall Man’s Food July 31, 2009 J U I C E , T E A , E N E R G Y D R I N K S E R O D E T E E T H According to recent studies on the effects of various drinks on tooth de- cay, it has been found that drinks that were commonly used as “healthy” substitutes for high sugar and dark colored sodas can cause the same irre- parable damage. These studies, conducted by the University of Iowa, Temple University and the Journal of Dentistry, also give insight into how to consume these often tasty beverages, while minimizing the damaging effects they have. Although some of these findings seemed rather obvious, as was the case with the University of Iowa’s discovery that energy drinks that are high in sugar erode teeth, others were perplexing. Upon thinking of energy drinks, images of Red Bull, Amp, and Monster cans flashed through my mind. Quickly following that barrage of images, my mind was bombarded with utter disgust at the taste of such “beverages.” Realizing that this distaste for such
