UNIV 111 - Unit II – Synthesis
This project has provided an opportunity to demonstrate our developing skills from Unit I
(deep reading, annotation, critical thinking, analysis, contextualization, etc) and our new skills
related to synthesis.
We have identified a theme present in
Evicted
, sought out two additional
readings that explore the same idea, reread all three texts noting how they discuss this theme,
identified three sub-topics (When these readings “talk” about this theme, what do they talk
about?) and created an inventory of textual evidence (quotes), including thoughtful explanations
of the meanings of those quotes.
Now it’s time to do the actual comparing / contrasting.
In today’s class you wrote a draft introduction (mentioning the theme, readings/authors,
and sub-topics) as well as an outline for the essay.
