Vitorino Castro Basic Comp. 11-6-07 “Voting Democracy Off the Island” I. Define *Gladiatorial- Relating to Gladiators, pleasing to one but not to another. Watching reality shows with “Average Joes” Is much more pleasing that watching some actor on TV. *Flinty- Inflexible, Showing no emotion. If you are showing emotion you become vulnerable so if you show no emotion it’s easier for you to win the game. *Zero-sum- A place where one wins, but in order to win means someone has to lose. *Agitprop- Political propaganda The Entertainment industry has a little bit of political propaganda as hidden messages in some of their work. *Zeitgeist- The ideas prevalent in a period and place. (Literature, Religion) *Mendacious- Having lied in the past or prone to habitual lying. When someone comes onto a show and projects this image of who they are, we tend to flip out when the media exposes them as someone different do to past lies.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
