Heredity – monozygotic (identical) twins ten to resemble each other more strongly than other relatives Heredity – biological relatives tend to resemble each other more than adoptive relatives or unrelated persons Personality Assessment Objective techniques o Test: MMPI Has 567 true-false question o Test: MMPI 2 Designed to measure dimensions such as sociability and conscientiousness Also detect clinical conditions like depression and psychosis Also can tell if someone is lying on this test Include a set of items that are designed to detect lying “I like every person I have ever met”-----“I get angry at someone” (Fake good) Projective techniques o People feel threatened by personality assessment that ask information directly o Rorchack Inkblots Test Composed of a series of 10 ambiguous inkblots Person is asked to interpret each of the blots There’s some truth in the assumption that personality influences behavior in ambiguous situations Is cross-culturally limited Correlation among interpretations made by different clinicians is not strong enough o The Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)
