BMIS Assignment #2 Greg Skahill 3/2/08 1. a) Business operations - IS facilitates the sharing of information throughout the whole company, be it the bosses or the employees. It helps reduce costs of production and speeds up production so that their items are made quicker and easier to access by the consumer. It helps generate growth within the company and makes it easier for the company then to expand and reach more customers. It helps convert data into useful information for the people within the company so that they can make the best product for the consumer as possible. b) Business decision making - Information which has been gathered can be analyzed and interpreted in order to make decisions about how and when they market certain things, or how the business is run. There is transactional information and analytical information. Executives can use the information to forecast or model their company. In doing this, the managers can calculate risk and uncertainty, and make the best choices possible for their company. c)
