In-group Out-group Reflection Malakai Stevens Introduction to Sociology 100 Adam Stratmeyer 5/7/19 In-groups are the social cliques that we belong to, while out-groups are the exact opposite, they are social circles that are not part of, and that we keep a distance from. My in-groups include gamers, restaurant staff, students, alcoholics, and thrill seekers. Some of my out-groups are bikers, professors, parents, athletes, and the religious. My in-groups have narrowed my view of the world, and made me sensitive to the problems we share, while callous to those on the outside. My out-groups have shaped me by showing me what I don’t want to be or do in my life.
