Experiment No.6 Objective: To comprehend the milling machine, different types of milling machines and milling operations. Construct a job on milling machine. Introduction: Milling is the machine tool that perform machining process of using rotary cutters to remove material from a workpiece advancing (or feeding) in a direction with the axis of the tool (multiple cutting edges called teeth). The orientation between the tool axis and the feed direction is one of the features that distinguish milling from drilling. It is one of the most commonly used processes in industry and machine shops today for machining parts to precise sizes and shapes. Milling machines are capable of dynamic movement; both of the tool and the workpiece, and many milling machines can perform multi-axis machining. Types of Milling Operations: Peripheral Milling: In peripheral milling, also called plain milling, the axis of the tool is parallel to the surface
