Policing in America has changed throughout the years. The missions of most police departments in America has six basic purposes. These purposes include, enforcing laws, investigating crimes and apprehending offenders, attempting to prevent crime, predicting future crimes, preserving peace and lastly providing basic services to individuals. (Schmalleger 2019) Policing missions and purposes have shifted within recent years. Because of recent terrorist threats and changes in transnational crimes, a new form of policing has been introduced; Intelligence- Led Policing. Intelligence Led Policing is simply described as a law enforcement model that makes decisions based on crime intelligence. Crime intelligence follows stages such as planning, collecting, evaluation, analysis, dissemination and finally feedback. (Burcher, Whelan 2018)Criminal intelligence can be collected from multiple sources, some examples being research, internet, newspaper, interviews and many more. With the recent change in America in regards to
