Eng. Bldg: 13, Portable 92-T - Room: 106 Cal Poly E-Mail: vmgranad @ calpoly.edu Cal Poly Cell - Ph# 805-441-7947 Office Hrs: M 1:00 pm – 2: 00pm ; T 1:00 pm –12:00pm. ; W 1:00 pm –2:00pm Labs Objectives: 1. Identify the properties and behavior of solids, including metals, polymers and semiconductors. 2. Calculate Hydrogen Faraday and Energy Efficiencies, Electrical Conductivity, Stress-Strain Tensile Test, Percent Cold Work, Surface Tension, Alloy Composition, Mechanical Properties and Microstructures after heat treatment. 3. Recognize the Iron-Iron Phase Diagram sufficiently to reference it in discussions regarding heat treatment of steels. 4. Demonstrate understanding of material covered through performance of experiments and required lab notebook. 5. Work successfully in a team environment with colleges from other major. 6. Finally, have fun while learning. Preparation -Documents: Lab Materials are posted in Cal Poly Blackboard under Course Materials . Read the experiment you are scheduled to do BEFORE coming to the lab. Print one copy per group and bring to the lab. Labs: There are 8 required labs which will be held in the Materials Lab at Cal Poly. The intention of the lab is to have a hands-on experience with the material covered in lecture and demonstrate how the lecture topics are applied in the real world. You will be in teams of
