Americans generated 254 million tons of trash in 2013 alone. Product packages, old appliances, dead batteries, broken furniture, nonbiodegradable and food scraps are just a few examples of items discarded by the public daily. beginning in the mid 1700s The Industrial Revolution brought about some big changes. waste management was not much of an issue because the population was smaller. since there were fewer people they could sustain themselves by cutting their own firewood for heating and meals. Sewage and garbage was disposed of on their property. this method became ineffective because of the industrial revolution.
