TP-CASTT Analysis Guidelines T: Title Before reading, ponder the title and describe what comes to mind. P: Paraphrase Translate the poem into your own words…a synopsis! C: Connotation Examine the poem for meaning beyond the literal; deeper meaning! (Similes, metaphors, alliteration, personification---figurative language) A: Attitude What is the speaker’s and/or the poet’s attitude (tone).
