Additionally their morale was boosted and it gave them hope for future battles to come. John Burgoyne lost 86 percent of his expeditionary force Highlights Fought eighteen days apart in the fall of 1777, the two Battles of Saratoga were a turning point in the American Revolution. The Americans were able to regroup and surround the British later on. The American victory convinced the French government to formally recognize the colonist’s cause and enter the war as their ally.
