But whether it was accidental or intentional, these european diseases are what caused major damage to the native american community. Epidemic diseases that were brought over for the first time by christopher columbus and his crew from europe were the main issue that caused the depopulation of the native Americans during the time in which they were in contact with the Europeans. Between the sixteenth and nineteenth century there were a lot of diseases that killed many native americans. These diseases originated from europe . Some examples of these diseases that were brought from europe would be syphilis, smallpox, measles, mumps and bubonic plague which were considered to have originated from Europe.
