PRE-LAB QUESTIONS 1. What is the best method of contacting help in an emergency in your community? Call emergency services through 911. 1. What should you do if you spilled a tiny amount of hydrochloric acid on your hand? Flush the affected area with cool, running water for at least 15 mins. Avoid rubbing the affected area of the skin. If skin is painful, red, swollen or burned visibly seek medical attention immediately at my local ER. 2. Describe a possible danger than can occur if you put food, soda, coffee, pencil erasers, etc. in your mouth while conducting your chemistry experiments? You could ingest a toxic chemical, or have it come in contact with your skin/body. If you are required to wear a respirator due to chemicals being toxic if inhaled the equipment might not function correctly with you chewing gum/food and shouldn’t be removed to place a cup or pencil erasers in your mouth. Than you have the chance of a spill or chemical coming in contact with the coffee you have on your lab bench and you ingesting it if you drink it. This is another strong reason to have a clutter free work bench where you can perform your experiments free of things not needed to perform the experiment. 3. What information is given on a Safety Data Sheet? Properties of each chemical; physical, health, and environmental health hazards; protective measures; and safety precautions for handling, storing, and transporting the chemical.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
