Importance of the VHAThe Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the largest healthcare system in the United States and is a significant part of the country’s medical education system (Young & Kroth, 2018).Additionally, it boasts a multi-billion-dollar budget and serves approximately 22 million veteransall at the taxpayers’ expense (Young & Kroth, 2018). This very specific patient population (veterans) is the key importance and rationale for continuing taxpayer support even though there is an oversupply of civilian hospital beds. VHA hospitals are meant to be ready to treat the men and women of the armed forces who, in many cases, put their lives on the line to ensure our safety here in America. These hospitals are also meant to be prepared to care for combat related injuries and illnesses. Additionally, statistics prove that current armed services personnel are at a much higher risk of combat injuries as well as post-deployment mental and physical health issues. The reasons for
