Measured by changes in performance Operant Conditioning Operant Conditioning : A type of learning in which behavior is: Strengthened if followed by reinforcement or diminished if follow by punishment Learned association between behavior and results Reinforcement Reinforcement- Increases the probability that the preceding action will be repeated in the future Positive reinforcement - Adding something pleasant to increase a behavior Negative reinforcement - taking away something unpleasant to increase a behavior Punishment Punishment - An event that decreases the probability that the preceding action will be repeated in the future Positive punishment—Adding something unpleasant to decrease a behavior Negative punishment - Taking away something pleasant to decrease a behavior
