-1 Greenpeace is a non profit organization that takes action to campaign against environmental degradation. Greenpeace is located in 42 different countries.(3) Greenpeace started its campaign in 1971 when a small boat of volunteers and journalists sailed into Amchitka, an area north of Alaska where the US Government was conducting underground nuclear tests.(Greenpeace) Greenpeace makes it their goal to find environmental criminals and try to work to help save the environment. Greenpeace also has a large fleet of ships that they use to go to different destination to stop environmental destruction. Greenpeace has a value of making sure to always have non-violent campaigns and protests. Greenpeace also states they have no permanent allies or enemies. Greenpeace is currently working to decrease threats such as whaling, global warming, and nuclear energy.(3) One of the large threats that Greenpeace is working against is whaling.(Greenpeace disrupts ) They have been pushing to stop whaling in Japan. Using the Greenpeace ships, the activists are able to battle with whaling boats. The Japanese government claims to be taking the
