Social inequality occurs when resources in a given society are issued unevenly, typically through norms of allocation, that provoke specific patterns along lines of socially defined classes of people. Social inequality plays a big role in the perpetuation of drug abuse. For example, many celebrities struggle with some form of addiction. These celebrities are more likely to seek medical help, while individuals in poverty aren’t given the same opportunity because of the stereotypes people put on these individuals. Many things that these individuals are on the streets or suffering from poverty due to the fact that they are a drug addict or hung out with the wrong crowd. In reality, some of those individuals are War veterans who came back to nothing, lost both of their parents, or just struggling financially. If nobody is willing to help these individuals or offer these individuals help, they will continue to grow as a society. On a macro level, institutions
